hello february... lately i have been relishing in the daylight until six, temperatures in the twenties, and wonderful new music! seriously, there has been an influx! i love it...
i am planning on eventually blogging my photo a day, but i have been lazy this week, and haven't uploaded anything yet! in other news, i am watching the movie i'm reed fish, and schuyler fisk is saving the movie by singing one of my favorite songs in it... otherwise, kind of lame! okay, i am all over the place. yes, it is true.
so... i turned the big two-five last weekend. along with a lot of fear that i am no where i thought i would be at twenty-five, i have come to see a lot of good things that i didn't think i would have at this point in time. ten years ago, i thought that at twenty-five i would be: in my third year of law school, living in north carolina, and dating the person i would marry. in reality, i am a professional photographer, living in anchorage, and single. and honestly, i think it's better.
also, i have struggled with being in alaska so much, but being here has given me so much clarity for what i want out of my career and life and it has been for the best!
anyways: i spent my birthday skiing at a world class ski resort with one of my best friends, which was pretty great! other than the fact that i really need different skis! mine aren't meant for the thirty inches of powder that was up here! i defiantly face planted twice! which was pretty funny for j to watch i am sure! eventually it started blowing and everything was super choppy, so we called it quits and headed back to town where m. made super yummy salmon and broccoli and rice. oh, and seriously the most amazing gluten, wheat, dairy free cake EVER made! it was insane. i could have eaten it forever. thank you m. you are amazing!
i told a few people, but one of the things on my bucket list for living here was to shoot the aurora. and a few weeks back there were some crazy aurora storms up here... so one tuesday night after work, i packed up my car and headed a hundred plus miles up the highway to talkeetna to find the allusive aurora. and guess what... it was amazing! i only got stuck in the ditch twice... which wasn't horrible, and i still need lots of practice, so i am hoping to get to go out again... but here are a few pics that were decent enough to put up here. and yes, i watermarked them... i don't on here normally, but i thought it would be necessary.
